There is a rich tradition in Morocco of creating high quality leather goods. Leather is used from cows, sheep, goats and camels. Not wanting to waste anything, the hides from these animals are taken and sold to the tanneries after the meat has been taken and sold for consumption. The hides go through a multistep process to be softened, cured, and dyed to be fashioned into leather ready for the tailor. The leather is dyed by hand using natural plant-based products in the world-renowned Fes Tanneries!
Softer than cow leather, yet durable enough to weather heavy use, goat leather is a perfect material to use when making handbags.
