There is a rich tradition in Morocco of creating high quality leather goods. Leather is used from cows, sheep, goats and camels. Not wanting to waste anything, the hides from these animals are taken and sold to the tanneries after the meat has been taken and sold for consumption. The hides go through a multistep process to be softened, cured, and dyed to be fashioned into leather ready for the tailor. The leather is dyed by hand using natural plant-based products in the world-renowned Fes Tanneries!
Softer than cow leather, yet durable enough to weather heavy use, goat leather is an ideal material to use for making coin pouches. The coin pouch is also equiped with a couple of small pockets for carring small amounts of cash. To open and access the coin pouch, simply squeeze the edges of the top together.
