Before woodcrafters begin to assemble these handmade wooden soccer balls, they first take an actual soccer ball of the same size that they want to make the wooden model. They disassemble the actual soccer ball stitch by stitch and trace each part onto the wood that will be used for the wooden soccer ball. Each piece is then cut from the wood and put meticulously in place. After any stains or paints are used for color, a clear coat is added.

Both junipers and orange trees are plentiful in Morocco. Juniper is one of the favorite types of wood for carvers. Its distinct and fresh cedar-like smell along with its versatility in use for making designs allow for intricate woodworking that are beauties to behold. Pair this with the contrasting lighter color of orange tree wood and you have an artisanal masterpiece!
